February 7, 2024 Wednesday Spring Joliet League ONLINE Signups
For those teams that already entered your team online via the form below, THANK YOU. For those who have not registered your team via the form below, it is highly suggested that you do so. As I’ve said before, these leagues are too big to keep track of verbal and text messaged teams. Everyone can use social media or order food or a ride share using their phone, you can do this. It’s not difficult. Registering the team online has multiple benefits. One, we can take your registration form and push it directly into the league software. This prevents errors and speeds up the process. Two, we’re only human and text messages can get deleted or missed. This messes up things when we then have to add a team and\or create a bye because of it. And then people get angry.
THE DEADLINE FOR REGISTERING YOUR TEAM ONLINE IS
FRIDAY FEBRUARY 9TH AT MIDNIGHT
PLAY BEGINS WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 14TH
Second topic is regarding divisions. There are usually two divisions because of the number of teams. Teams are separated by division based on their ability. Let’s all understand that you don’t get to pick your division. If you choose to go UP in division, fine with me. But you don’t get to say we want to be in division B. Eventually, everyone wanting to be in B division leaves no teams in A division. Then we’re right back to having one big division again with limited opportunities.
Starting the Summer 2024 session (session after this upcoming one), we will be strictly enforcing the divisions by ability. We might consider even adding a C division and having a smaller number of teams per division but increased opportunities for league champions. We are also considering a relegation system where the winner of a division moves up and the last place team moves down. Lastly, we are considering enforcing a max handicap per team rule. There are a lot of moving parts to figure out and scenarios to plan for. This will be a welcome change for some of you. And for others, this will not be something you want. It’s going to be impossible to make everyone happy. But it’s something that needs to be done for parity and competitiveness.
